Here's hoping 2015 is a great year. Still trying to get past the fact that my two old girls are gone. Each day is better. I have Swayze, the image of Token, in her outside run and it helps to drive up and have him there. RoZe, Mesa's daughter, is thrilled to be the 'old' dog now and look after the house and all that goes with that job.
We were thrilled to be invited to Purina Farms in Missouri to compete at the U.S. Rally ...Read Full Post »

Should you care ...Read Full Post »

Lisa adopted Dante this summer from the Calgary Humane Society and part of her contract with them was that this young dog would complete obedience lessons. Lisa spent two weeks in the Crowsnest Pass area and during that time completed four lessons of beginner obedience at Shadowbar. I was absolutely impressed with handler and dog. What a great match.

The boarding kennel is full and am I ever glad that we chose last week's nice weather to tear down all the runs and put down the new floor color! It took four days to pull the panels and the floor mats and dividers and paint the floor and spruce up the doors and dividers and put them all back up in time for the dogs to arrive. Phew. What a job! But it looks great and is much easier to clean now. Check out the pics....Read Full Post »

The Alberta Royal Museum was working on a summer exhibit called. Wolf to Woof, the story of how dogs became Man's best friend. They ran a contest asking people to relate stories that would prove that their dog was best buddy quality. I entered a story about Shadowbar's Tuxedo Rose, my wonderful German shepherd who used to accompany me to school when I taught Humane Education in the Crowsnest Pass. One of my students had no dog of her own to use...Read Full Post »

Over the past month, we have had the opportunity to work with an exceptional 7 month old female sable German shepherd. Here is a video of Murphy, after 15 days of training at Shadowbar. Enjoy. We certainly had fun with this young girl. Her exuberance was amazing.Read Full Post »

Our resident sheltie, Drummer Boy, is now 22 months of age and in that short time, using our training methods here at Shadowbar, he has accomplished his SHDX title, his RA title and his CGN title. But more impressive is the fact that he has been quietly training in obedience and has all his CD exercises in line, and his retrieving exercises for Open are fast and clean with a good front most times, and last night first time ever presented with metal, leather, and wooden articles, he c...Read Full Post »

We have had the most amiable, jolly golden retriever staying with us for the past three weeks. When he came to us, he was more than comfortably overweight, but now he is actually beginning to take shape and he is fashionably fit as well.
