"How Lucky am I to have had something that makes saying goodby so hard."
Just a month apart, I said goodby to two of my greatest dogs and companions, Ch. Snowycreeks' Dakota Rose, CD, HS, CGN, RAE (Mesa Sue) and Ch. Tawnashee's Rose at Shadowbar, (Token) CD. RE. SHDCh. HS, CGN, ITD.
Such a loss is overwhelming because these two girls had been with me for a long time. Mesa Sue was 13 1/2 and Token 12 years old when the time came to walk them to the edge of the Rainbow Bridge.
This picture below was taken when the girls were young. We had entered the Herding Tested Class in a CKC Herding Test and both dogs performed admirably and received their titles under judge, Sue Mesa from the USA. It cracked us all up when Sue Mesa thought I was trying to prank her by calling her Mesa Sue, when really, I had not idea her name was my dog's name backwards.
I will miss these dogs forever and although I will learn to live with the loss, I will never be the same person I was before the loss, nor should I be, nor should I expect to be. Their greatness has set the bar for all the dogs at Shadowbar and I am so lucky to have their offspring to help me carry on.
