Shadowbar Shepherds

"May a good shepherd watch over you."

New year

Here's hoping 2015 is a great year.  Still trying to get past the fact that my two old girls are gone.  Each day is better.  I have Swayze, the image of Token, in her outside run and it helps to drive up and have him there. RoZe, Mesa's daughter, is thrilled to be the 'old' dog now and look after the house and all that goes with that job.

We were thrilled to be invited to Purina Farms in Missouri to compete at the U.S. Rally Nationals this March with not one, but TWO dogs.  Yes, at the Great Falls, Montana trials last September, Castle, our shiba inu, and Drummer, our sheltie, received amazing scores. Castle took first place and High Combined with a score 0f 398/400 over four trials with Drummer right behind with 395/400.  Had his handler, guess who, not caused him to lose 3 points, the dogs would have been tied for first place and High Combined.  Our goal for Drummer this year is to concentrate on Herding,  and both he and Castle will compete in agility, scent hurdle, and Nosework.

Hunter, GSD,  retired from Herding at the top of his career, winning a High in Trial and two Reserve High in Trials at the Winchester Ranch trials last summer. Not sure what is in store for him, although he hasn't finished his Rally Excellent yet. Hmmm.

Shaggy has nothing planned for her this summer so she is free to be.....

Swayze will work at being a Draft Dog.  We have four DD's and one DDX on our shepherds so he may as well be the fifth. Draft Dog work has been a favorite thing of mine and I am happy to say that the Rottweiler Club Of Canada has invited me to be one of three judges at their Bragg Creek Test this April.

And I am absolutely thrilled to be flying to Grande Prairie in April to do a 2 day workshop on Scent Hurdle and Obedience with their club.

One of my favorite shows ever is the Evelyn Kenny show at Springbank Park for all seasons just west or Calgary and this year, the club has asked me to judge their Rally Obedience on July 11th. I really look forward to it.  I can camp onsite with our new trailer and I can hardly wait.

Planning a Draft Dog Workshop for this summer as well and a Mock DD here at home.

If all goes well, we will be able to travel this summer to visit and train with some of our favorite people.   In the meantime,

High Scores and Happy Heeling to Everyone.
